Session 2: Learning Better Together
The second Learning Better Together Session, hosted by the Global Center for the Development of the Whole Child Haiti, will take place on August 10th from 7-8:30pm EST. The topic for the session is Social and Emotional Learning: What it is, why it is important, and how to embed it in Haitian classrooms.
The session will explore the role of social and emotional learning (SEL) in children’s success inside and outside of the classroom, especially as it relates to the Haitian context, and the role SEL plays in promoting healthy development. After a discussion of what SEL is and why it is important, presenters will explore how practitioners can train teachers and equip them with practical tools to embed SEL in their daily classroom routines. Presenters will share practical tips and SEL training videos, so you can begin to embed SEL in your classroom or community today!
The end of the session will include a 30 minute optional, networking event where participants can join presenters in breakout rooms to ask questions and gather additional resources. This is also a great opportunity to connect with other participants and learn about their work in Haiti.
