Lakshmi PM Shashi
With post-graduate degrees in sociology and social work, Lakshmi has over 15 years of hands-on experience in community development programming. She has worked with hundreds of women and children from underprivileged backgrounds in order to raise their awareness of their constitutional rights and to help them understand the unique challenges they face including access to education, personal health and hygiene, violence, and tendencies for self-blame. Throughout her career she has developed and implemented a number of strategic tools to address risky behaviors in women and children as a result of these challenges.
Additionally, she has worked in child-centered community development programs and disaster relief programs in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, India.
Most recently, she worked on a large-scale child health program in India: National Deworming Day. In this role, she provided technical support to the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Telangana by developing content and facilitating community mobilization events. Part of this role also entailed maintaining stakeholders’ engagement throughout the project’s implementation.
