The GC-DWC presents courses for parent training in Haiti and whole child development in India
The Global Center for the Development of the Whole Child is offering two courses this summer to help parents and students understand whole child development.
The GC-DWC has expanded our parent training efforts to five new parish communities in Haiti. Over the course of three months, parents will receive training and coaching on ways to support their children’s health growth and development through topics like positive discipline, health and nutrition, and learning through play.
The Osmania University in Telangana, India, and the University of Notre Dame will be co-leading a course on Whole Child Development Education. The course is designed to provide students with an evidence-based framework to understand how whole child development approaches to education foster resilience and improve educational and psychological outcomes for children facing adversity. Particular attention will be paid to how whole child development approaches are being integrated into the Tribal and Social Welfare Societies residential schools for marginalized children in Telangana. This semester-long course also focuses on practical evaluation tools, and how they have been used in school programs in India and other countries. This course is designed and taught by University of Notre Dame faculty and staff based in India and the United States.
