Suzanne Wood

Bio

Suzanne Wood is a Ph.D. Candidate in Sociology at the University of Notre Dame, a graduate affiliate with the Center for Research on Educational Opportunity (CREO), and a Burns Fellow with the Program for Interdisciplinary Education Research (ND PIER). She holds a B.A. from Columbia University (cum laude) and an M.A. in Sociology from the University of Victoria. Her research focuses on educational inequality, exploring how race, class, gender, and power shape the experiences of students and teachers within the K-12 education system. Using qualitative methods, Suzanne examines the impacts of organizational structure and policy on the teachers and students who must navigate them. Her work sheds light on the complex challenges faced by schools navigating resource constraints and high-stakes accountability. Through this research, she aims to contribute to more equitable and inclusive educational practices and policies.
