CREO Research is Featured in ND Works
Educational research projects with likely impacts on the future of schools were featured in ND Works on Feb. 11, 2011. The Notre Dame faculty/staff newspaper spotlighted the work of sociology professor Mark Berends, director of the Center for Research on Educational Opportunity (CREO) at the University’s Institute for Educational Initiatives.
One project titled “Catholic School Effectiveness” is working with Catholic schools in nine U.S. cities to track data on student achievement. The other, titled “What Makes Schools Work,” examines student achievement in different kinds of public and private schools through surveys of approximately 2,500 teachers.
