Graduate Student Maura Kraemer's forthcoming paper in Social Science Research

Sociology/CREO Graduate Student Maura Kraemer is anticipating the publishing of her forthcoming paper "Race, Parents, and Schools: Understanding how Parental Racial Socialization Operates within Schools as Racialized Organizations" in Social Science Research's March 2025 edition. In this publication, Kraemer investigates the extent to which engagement in parental racial socialization affects the academic outcomes and educational experiences of Black and White high school students. She further evaluates students' perceptions of school organizational practices as racialized and find negative impacts on academic outcomes and educational experiences for all students. Kraemer finds a significant interaction between parental racial socialization and perceived racialized organizational practices of schools. Read the paper here.
