Nicole Perez
Nicole received her PhD in Sociology from the University of Notre Dame. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Education and the Director of Educational Research and Program Evaluation for the Hispanic Center of Excellence at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Her scholarly and teaching interests lie at the intersection of education, race and ethnicity, immigration, and social inequality. As a trained sociologist, she applies frameworks and theories rooted in sociology of race and ethnicity to medical education. Currently, she is investigating transitions to and through medical school and training among Latinx individuals. She has published in the journals of Race Ethnicity and Education, Journal of Applied Research in Higher Education, Ethnic and Racial Studies, and International Journal of Contemporary Education.
