Joseph Thursby
Joe Thursby is a first-year PhD student in the Center for Research on Educational Opportunity (CREO) and a fellow in the Program for Interdisciplinary Educational Research (PIER) at the University of Notre Dame. Resulting from his experience as a private and public school educator, he is interested in the academic effects of school choice policies, how parents choose a school after a school choice policy is enacted, and what information is available to parents about schools when deciding on a school for their child. Specifically, he is interested in investigating the information asymmetry that exists between schools and parents.
Joe graduated from St. Olaf College in 2022 with a BA in Economics and English Literature. Immediately following graduation, he taught 3rd-grade for two years at a Catholic school in Sacramento, California, and earned a Master of Education from the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) program. Following this, he taught in Chicago Public Schools as a 4th and 5th-grade STEM teacher.
