Emily LaPorte

Bio

Emily LaPorte is a graduate student in Developmental Psychology, where she studies under Dr. Julie Braungart-Rieker in the Babies and Families lab. She earned her B.S. at Villanova University in 2019 majoring in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience, and Humanities, and minoring in Theology and Psychology.

Emily volunteered as a research assistant in the Memory and Cognition lab at Villanova University, and in the Emotion and Self-Control Lab at the University of Michigan, through which she assisted with the Toolbox Project (a self-control curricula intervention for middle- and high-school students).

Emily has many interests relevant to educational and familial settings, including child character development, emotion-regulation, academic perseverance and achievement, and optimal parenting behaviors for learning, given individualities in child temperament.
