Janet Ilott is the Project Coordinator for Activation of Systems in Emergency Situations in Haiti for the University of Notre Dame. Her role includes coordination of radio programming and parent training sessions and launch and management of five community resource centers, as well as supervision of research and learning alongside administrative supervision. Janet has over 20 years of experience working in international development. While she just recently joined GC-DWC's team in January 2022, Janet has been working in Haiti since 2014 and has a thorough knowledge of the country. Prior to this, she also managed projects in South Sudan, Guatemala, Kenya and Morocco with a primary focus on healthcare and vulnerable children. She is passionate about the concept of empowering local people and building sustainable initiatives through grassroots development.
Janet is originally from Toronto, Canada and has had the opportunity to work with many grassroots organizations. She believes this has given her a chance to gain a different perspective on development and cultures; meanwhile her experience is complemented by a Masters in Sustainable Development and a Masters in Humanitarian Aid from the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas in Madrid, Spain, alongside a Bachelor in Journalism from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada.
