Patrick Graff

Patrick is a fourth-year PhD student in the Center for Research on Educational Opportunity (CREO) and a Burns Fellow in the Program for Interdisciplinary Education Research (PIER).

He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2011 with a BA in Philosophy and Chinese. He then taught third grade in Tampa, Florida while concurrently earning his M.Ed. through the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) Teaching Fellows Program. Before beginning doctoral work, Patrick helped recruit and support beginning teachers as Associate Director of the ACE Teaching Fellows program.

His research focuses on teacher mobility and attrition; the impacts of student exposure to same-race teachers; the effects of school choice policy on teachers and school organization; and methods to recruit, support, and retain teachers in K-8 school settings, with a particular emphasis on the translation of academic research to public policy and practice.
