Bio
Calvin Zimmermann’s research examines how racial ideologies and structures shape children's school experiences, with a particular emphasis on understanding the causes and consequences of racial disparities in school discipline. His work also contributes to race and intersectional scholarship that moves beyond examining inequalities among youth or adults, and instead demonstrates how inequalities manifest in early childhood. For his current project, he and several graduate students are collaborating with a local public school district on their efforts to address racial disparities in school discipline.
