Prof. Ernest Morrell of Columbia University will speak about improving urban schools through community-based initiatives. Dr. Morrell is the director of the Institute for Urban and Minority Education and the Macy Professor of Education at Columbia’s Teachers College.
Over the past decades, Dr. Morrell and his team have developed comprehensive strategies focusing on school culture, effective pedagogy, and parent partnerships to deliver academic excellence to millions of students in America’s cities. A former president of the National Council of Teachers of English, Dr. Morrell is a popular speaker as well as a prolific researcher and writer.
