Location: The Coleman Room, #1024 Flanner Hall
Elizabeth Armstrong, associate professor of sociology at the University of Michigan, will speak on the subject of her book, Paying for the Party: How College Maintains Inequality. As described by publisher Harvard University Press, the book, co-authored by Laura T. Hamilton, "is an indispensable contribution to the dialogue assessing the state of American higher education. A powerful expose of unmet obligations and misplaced priorities, it explains in vivid detail why so many leave college with so little to show for it."
