Research Center on Educational Policy

(see news reports about the partnership announcement from June and October, 2012)

The mission of the Institute's Research Center on Educational Policy is to conduct independent research to inform educational policy and decision making at the state level and across the country. An interdisciplinary group of researchers, including faculty and staff at the University of Notre Dame as well as colleagues from other universities, will undertake projects that are responsive to the priority research needs identified by state partners. The partnerships entail stewardship of data collected from the states' schools, teachers, and students, to be organized by Notre Dame with rigorous methods of scientific inquiry. The approach points toward an era of more effective, data-informed policy-making. Sociologist Mark Berends is the center's director.
